After studying Horticulture and Landscape Design & Installation at Iowa State University, Jason decided in 2010 it was time to start a small landscape company, called J&M Landscapes, serving Pocahontas and Humboldt Counties. At this time Jason was working alone on small landscape projects in the area and doing some lawn care contracts to fill in time. By January 2011, Jason had decided to recruit the help of his parents Mike and Pat in a venture to purchase and manage Gilmore Garden & Nursery.  This expansion would take the small landscape business into a full service garden center offering annuals/perennials, trees/shrubs, commercial and residential lawn care and landscape design & installation. With the transition of management and addition of newly added services and offerings, it was decided to change the name to Gilmore Garden Center. With the addition of Pat came along several years worth of greenhouse experience. After retirement from Pro Cooperative in late 2020, Mike took on a full time role in the business helping with greenhouse operations, landscaping and lawn care.
